10 Must-Know Motorcycle Riding Tips For Beginner Riders
Fairly new rider here, learn a lot from Dan's videos, but man 90 percent of these are caused by idiots speeding. It's not rocket science.
most of the people highlighted in these short vids are complete dumbasses... they speed, and then blame everyone else when things don't go their way... stupid morons.. Dan you are pretty gracious when explaining this stuff... I would be calling them all dumbasses
here is my thoughts about gear and i don't get why people don't wear it. most riders have at least a helmet but you are wearing a helmet for your protection just in case you crash but if you are already worried about crashing then why not have any other gear? I get that some places you have to have a helmet (laws). and helmets are good face protection when going high speeds (like wind or small debris). But come on.
If you drive on the left... What's a right hand drive motorcycle look like lmfao jkjk
Maybe too much time playing games and not enough hands on experience. We lived on our bicycles when I was a kid. I mean riding across town in Los Angeles. So we worked our way up to motorcycles, cars and trucks. You actually develop muscle memory when you spend lots of time on different forms of transportation.
I’ll give Dan credit for keeping me out of danger.
Think about this. While riding at 70 MPH, more or less, and looking down past your foot at the asphalt buzzing by at a blur. Now visualize working in your shop at home and taking a close look at your bench grinder running a full speed. Now imagine putting your knee, elbow, cheek or chin against it as hard as you can. That asphalt is a much bigger surface area than the little 1 inch wide grinding wheel. Asphalt is still the number 1, most efficient, successful, one treatment tattoo remover. The largest organ in your body is your skin. It keeps out bacteria, regulates body temperature and hold your internal organs in place.
"annnnnd we just got demonitized"
😂
You're doing a service showing that medical stuff. Might make someone think twice about stunting, or at least doing it without some gear.
@15:30, I can barely watch this.... I broke my right knee on the SAME dirt bike. I did a lot worse than tearing ligaments in the knee though, I broke the top of my tibia into 5 pieces. It set my life long understanding of what level 10 pain is like. For those that don't know, level 10 is where you can barely talk or think and you'd welcome death if it was offered to you. Ortho surgeon for the Dallas Cowboys put my knee back together again. Thank you Dr. McAdams!!!
The fella who twisted the other guys throttle The bike that flipped out may have had a recluse or EFM clutch which makes your motorcycle work just like a 4 wheeler, put it in gear and it doesn't move till you give it throttle.
Hey Dan, just a q. At 22:00 the dudes were helping their buddy up to their feet, but I was taught either 1. Don't move the pt at all, or 2. If it's more ideal for them to be moved, let them get up on their own as helping them up can aggravate injuries. Ofc there's log roll for suspected neck or spinal injuries, and do whatever it takes if the situation makes not dying more important, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on that guy in the woods
Most harley riders are the most experienced. Theres a few that harley is their first bike due to mid-life crisis. For the most part most of us has owned every type of bike.from the KZ 900 to the first VMAX and first KATANA. i have a BUSA in the garage i ride often. New riders just dont have the experience and the know how. Takes many years of doing the right thing, so it's second nature instead of something to remember to do. Many sport bike rev bombers are the least experienced there are. Rev bombing is one of many giveaways. Act like you've been there before instead of squidwarding every time you ride. The odds will catch up...they always do
7:29 That looks like a eu sign that says overtaking is prohibited
The video of the guy with the broken foot, should be shown to everyone before they get a license to show why you need to wear gear. AGAT
As non-motorcycle-riding car-driver, I *always* do head checks. 🤷
But he can pull a hella good high speed wheelie for the entertainment of the other drivers. I never understood the attraction.
The guys at the light:one buddy tried to Killswitch him by kicking it into gear at the same time the camera guy tried to rev his bike
So many panic crashes made by failing to make the corner by apparent paralysis. Intuitively and entirely subconsciously, these riders know about counter steering under normal circumstances but when they panic they try the opposite technique and cannot understand why they stop turning. I was one of these until quite recently when I suddenly realised what the actual mechanics were when I turned the bike at speed. Pulling the handlebars the wrong way is anything but intuitive. 😂
Much respect for what you do, as always, Dan. People need to see the consequences. Wear the gear.
So what we learned.. stupity and speeding ends badly..
27:35 This is one of those douchebags just looking for problems where there aren't any. Speeding up to create problems. Classic biker victimhood mentality.
I just joined your patreon, because I went for my 350th mile today and I'm assessing road surface Hazzards, side of the vehicle, today I had a head on vehicle and I did Progressive breaking and I swerved out of the way. Also, during my 70-mile ride today, I'm staying out of the white zone, observing the orange zone and responding to the red zone. Bro, I'm not sure, but I think you just might have saved my life today! Great job!
I do head check and I’ve never driven a motorcycle
19:21 not obscured SLOW written on the road 😂😂😂
graphic warning * dont click* this is for me ‼ ⚠ 11:17
He did an LOL.... landed on leg
Vehicle on the circle has a right of way, if you enter circle you need to yield. it simple. Merging like red car leads to incidents or car crashes often because they do not want to follow simple rule, it is so easy to follow, great visibility, nothing to worry about if anyone there you wait. One direction. Another thing that people are skipping on is indication of exit from circle, wanna exit use right turn signal (or left in UK). Simple, makes moving on circles fast safe and efficient
I haven't run across this channel is a while, but OMG the secondary flinching I went through while watching reminded me why I can't watch too many of these 🤣. Excellent analysis, as always.
I appreciate the extra effort to show the injury....aaand we just got demonetized. I feel for ya bud.
Dan, how about doing your take on airbag vests. Do they make a difference?
Panoramic mirrors are good thing to have. It saves everyone from issues. In US these straight mirrors is crap. It is impossible to see anything without turning your head or doing bird like head movements side to side. EU it is mandatory to have panoramic mirrors
Your protective gear instruction is right on! For anyone looking for ideas, here is an example for me and why: Shoei Neotec 2 modular helmet, Klim Marrakesh jacket with upgraded CE L2 armor for impact protection . It’s all 1000D stretch Cordura, about the best you can get short of race leathers, it’s CE AA rated for abrasion resistance. CE is not a perfect rating system, but it’s something. I would not wear anything less than a AA rating for abrasion resistance. AAA rating is racing leathers, but for the long-distance touring I do, I think AA rating is ok. In hotter temps, my jacket is a Klim Induction mesh, also AA rated. The big impact protection is an airbag vest under my jacket! Mine is a Klim A1 Rally. There are other good ones out there, but I got this one because it felt comfortable and breathable, and it’s among the best at isolating my neck. Riding pants are DYNS jeans. I removed the armor and wear Bohn Body Armor underneath because it’s tight against my legs and has more coverage area, and it’s in a breathable mesh and you don’t even know it’s there. Boots that also protect my shins and gloves are also essential. That’s my take, but I also keep a lookout for ways to improve.
Top to bottom protection for me, and its comfortable to wear too. Shoei modular helmet, Klim Rally airbag vest under my Klim Marrakesh jacket with upgraded L2 armor, DYNS Dyneema AA riding jeans, Alpinestars gloves and boots.
Question I would like answered. Reducing risk of open book fracture…would a tank bag reduce that risk?
The first rider target fixated on the spot where he was going to have his next accident.
Wear gear.. I REPEAT WEAR GEAR ALL THE TIME
RUclipss censorship policys drive me fuckin nuts man.. Much love and support always Daniel!!
The "And we got demonatized" came right after an ad for me. Lol. Dont know if you make money anyway though.
22:51 Wow, never expected to see my hometown in one of your video's! The city is called Den Bosch (in the Netherlands). If somebody is ever visiting the Netherlands, go there! There are a lot of accidents on this roundabout with cyclists. The orange/red colored road is a bike lane in two directions, despite the fact that roundabouts are in one direction. So drivers are sometimes surprised that a cyclist or moped is coming from the "wrong" direction and then hit them ☹
Very good teachings. Gonna switch to full-napkin magic armor now, ride 2ft behind everybody at 80mph and start doing meditations to enable road rage because someone switched lanes half a mile ahead and had to like slow down from 80 to 79, which is against the rules in my super secret road ninja club
Trump era clip
11:16 Kinda? Fully! Read the damn signage! ”Had never riden this road” my ass!
making my feet cringe😅
Dude, whisky throttled his buddies bike 😂😂 that was the funniest shit ever.
20:46 Oh hey, I think you covered another video if this crash recently!
1st video is in South Africa - Gauteng. Everyone has road rage issues there. You really need a big set to ride in Gauteng
I rode bitch once (or twice) with someone who went fast, it's a bad feeling not having control and holding on to the bike for dear life
The amount of footage I see of riders cracking the sads for being pushed out of a land because they’re in a cars blind spot is crazy. Lane positioning is very important on the road, make sure you fully occupy the lane your in, don’t sit in the far left lane in the left wheel track than get pissy because you’re not making your presence known on the road.
The lack of roadcraft on display is amazing, most of the time they're sat in a position that would be daft to be in in a car
